Mittens and Hat from Wool Sweaters

The mittens and hat were made from two wool sweaters purchased at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Both sweaters are 100% cashmere, shrunken in hot water and dried on high. Hat and mittens are completely lined and felted. The buttons were found at an antique/collectables store. My cost for the items was about $5.00 total, but I had enough wool left over to make slippers as well.

Remade In Michigan Purpose

The purpose of the Remade In Michigan blog site is to introduce a variety of art/craft items created from used materials. My intention is to provide followers with recycling ideas and directions to reinvent using materials of your own, and thereby "paying it forward", in a sense, the reuse of materials that have already been produced and are taking up space.
